Pinner Pantomime Evening is a major event in the Pinner calendar, along with St George’s Day and the Pinner Village Show. This year it will take place from 5 pm on Thursday 28th November. The community evening, now in its 22nd year, is based around Pantomime & Character themes with this year a specially added Elton John Celebration, recognising that he wad born and raised in Pinner.
It has developed from a Trader led self financing event (intended to signify the lead up to the festive Christmas period), to one embracing the whole Pinner community, with in 2018 Crowd funding added to the fund raising mix, to enable it to take place. The event takes place on the High Street, Bridge Street, Chapel Lane and Love Lane.
On the night people from Pinner and the wider community enjoy musical entertainment from local schools and community groups. Charity stalls add to the entertainment in the High St and Bridge St Red Lion Parade. The catering establishments in the High St provide street food on the night and some of the Traders host the visitors in their premises, providing drinks and snacks. There are two musical venues outside David Charles in the High St & Andrew Pearce in Chapel Lane. There are rides for young children, street entertainers, the switching on of the Christmas tree lights and a large firework display to round off the evening.
This year the School Choirs and Bands taking part will be encouraged to include some Elton John music in their repertoires. Young children are being invited to come to the evening in Character costumes to add more colour and vibrancy to the event. Including of course Elton. The firework finale with its multitude of colourful rockets will be a fitting celebration of Elton John aka “Rocketman”
We need to raise funds from the community now, to ensure that we can complete the preparations for this years event and ensure sufficient reserves to commence the planning for 2020 so it is not lost from the Pinner event calendar.
